The European Center for Excellence for Blockchain will help position Romania as a key and active player in the Blockchain space. It will provide access to both policy, technical and business expertise around Blockchain.
ECEB will be cooperating with local companies participating at the center on building points of view, proof of concepts, policies, educational materials including addressing all the distributed ledger capabilities across different Blockchain schemes (public, consortium and private), with industry verticalization and domain specialization (IoT, smart transactions, messaging, etc.), underpinned by the best underlying technologies from startups, from our key partners and from the community.
The Initiative Group of the ECEB will pursue in the name of Blockchain expertise the following points:
concluding a Memorandum of Understanding with Old Dominion University, Virginia, United States of America;
proposing formulas for cooperation with international organizations (ASEAN, etc.) and institutions with similar foreign interests;
initiating activities to promote Blockchain and Critical Infrastructure Protection in the framework of international initiatives like 16 + 1, BRI, Digital Silk Road and others;
presentation of the ECEB initiatives in Brussels, the main European institutions such as the European Commission, the European Parliament and NATO headquarters;
organizing seminars with international participation in Bucharest, Romania to assess the potential of using Blockchain and Critical Infrastructure Protection;
the use of the opportunity to organize the third “International Critical Infrastructure Forum” in Bucharest, Romania the promotion of initiatives, research priorities and reference works in prestigious international publishing houses;
initiating discussions with the preparation team of the Romanian Presidency of the European Union in the first semester of 2019, in order to include the Blockchain issue and the protection of critical infrastructures in the priorities proposed by our country for this mandate.
